The course should be finished within a week or so. They need to find out quickly that there is no such feature so as to not waste their time. So if their interest in ProjectLibre is contingent on that import feature, then I will not mislead the students and tell them that ProjectLibre has a feature to import MS Project files. The thousands of monthly downloads will find their way to Udemy and watch the course. Given that the course will initially be free, I expect that a substantial number of the people representing I want to be honest with the viewers of the course. Or should i just plan on telling every student on Udemy that import is broken, it has been broken for a long time,Īnd there is no estimate on when it will be fixed or if it will ever be fixed at all? So can we expect this to actually be fixed sometime in the near future? This is a huge feature that is touted loudly by the ProjectLibre project - and it does not work. The alternative is to explain that it is broken, and has been broken for a long time.Īnd there currently is no estimated date for a fix. I would really like to be able to demonstrate a working import feature in those videos. When completed this ProjectLibre QuickStart course will be available on Udemy. I am currently working on video tutorials for ProjectLibre. Have not tested removing only the calendars. So the problem is probably in the ProjectLibre import of the Resources and/or Calendar. If the project is just Tasks it will import properly - both MS Project files and XML files. I did discover that if I remove the Resources from the projects that they will open in ProjectLibre. Multiple tests between Microsoft Project and ConceptDRAW Project worked as expected. XML files exported from ConceptDRAW Project also fail to import. ProjectLibre has been downloaded 6,000,000 times in 197 countries on all 7 continents and translated into 29 languages. Microsoft Project files and exported XML from MS Project fail.įor all MS Project versions - 2013, 2007, 2003. ProjectLibre 1.6.1 locks-up and never completes the import. The import from Microsoft Project files and from XML files is currently broken. So it appears that the xml file as created by PL is not quite the same as the xml file created by MS Project. Action: Create project in MS Project 2007, save as xml and import that xml into Project Insight.Result: Project is imported OK including "Work" is imported with correct value.Open that xml file with MS Project 2007 and save it again as an xml with MSP 2007 (no changes). Action: Create project in PL and save as xml. To change the date format, please go to menu File Options and in the General Settings tab, select the desired Date Format. In the video they use probably a version up to 1.61 or a customized build. Result: Project is imported OK, except "Work" is imported with value of "0" You could theoretically change the layout in the source and recompile the jar files.Action: Create project in PL, save as xml and import that xml into Project Insight. So far, I have not found any "magic" setting to bring the "work" values into PI. The export process using xml files from Project Libre seems to work OK, importing all the key information to Project Insight EXCEPT "Work". I have a number of Project Libre projects to export to PI. These are the details I’d want to see in a report/dashlet.Does anyone have any experience exporting xml files from Project Libre to Project Insight (a web-based Multi-Project Management software tool)? The date the project will finish (calculated from the tasks). Top level overview - project completed/closed, or underway and any outstanding items (particularly any items outstanding on customer input).Task successor/predecessor relations - no desire yet for resource levelling (on assignee as resource) but if a duration is extended then the flow on effect should affect later tasks (or flag them as overlapping).Task tracking/progress (I think this is covered in SuiteCRM already).Preferably with the ability to pre-load durations and assignees - and to be able to have a “copy from template at this start date” … the key is to enable to the CRM to manage simple, repeatable projects.įor me personally, I’d adapt the important features for these simple repeated projects are: Integration between CRM and a more advanced system would be very helpful.įor #2, a CRM system with simple project/task management capabilities would be a perfect fit. Users who need relatively simple project or task management with simple, repeatable processes.įor #1, I agree that the CRM system is not the appropriate place to manage the project.Users who are managing large projects and programs, hundreds or thousands of tasks, complex dependences, resources, detailed financial analysis, etc. There are probably 2 separate classes of project management users out there:
